Last season Jamie Arsenault had arguably as much talent on his roster as just about anyone, but it didn’t translate into wins.

This season the New Hampton head man is taking a different approach, building a cohesive club with few reputations and egos and hoping it’ll pay off with more victories than last year’s 14-15 campaign.

The top offensive option will likely be 6-6, 185-pound wing Sean Raboin, a post-grad from Mexico, Mo., who is extremely underrated and will likely wait until the spring before committing. He’s already taken visits to UC-Irvine and Indiana State.

``He’s an extremely versatile player who can play anywhere from the one to the four,” Arsenault said of Raboin. “He will help us in a lot of different ways. He shoots it well, makes good decisions and finds the open guy. We’ll need him to average 18 to 20 points per game.”

Senior guard Jerrell Lewis (6-1, 185) returns and he’ll have some help up front from the likes of newcomers Gabriel Chami, a 6-11, 235-pound native of Argentina, and 6-8, 225-pound power forward Guy Tanner, who has already committed to UNC-Greensboro. Chami is already receiving looks from Northwestern, Fordham and Vanderbilt.

The other starting spot will likely be up for grabs. Guards Bryan Adams, a 6-foot, 155-pound post-grad from San Jose, Calif., Marvin Reels (6-0, 185), Mike Winn (6-1, 175), Jake Wohfeil (6-4, 185) and Justin Graham (5-11, 175) should all receive minutes in the backcourt while 6-9, 225-pound Aussie Michael Magee will see plenty of minutes and could be an Ivy League kid.

``Last year was the worst year we had, so this year’s team was by design,” Arsenault added. “I went out and found kids that weren’t noticed, that want to play hard and play as a team. We’ll be a much better team, but no guarantees. We don’t have the athletes or skill to just go in and win. We’ll have to earn every game.”
