Head coach Jonathon Stone welcomes back a pair of returning starters – 5-7 senior point guard Mingus Murray (Los Angeles, Calif.) and 6-6, 200-pound senior forward Noah Savage (Princeton, N.J.). Murray led the team in both scoring and assists last season and is a low-major kid while Savage is getting Ivy League interest from the likes of Princeton, Columbia, Yale and Penn.
``They’ll be our keys,” Stone said. “They’ve been around the longest. Mingus can score and is a tremendous shooter while Noah is versatile – he’s able to shoot it from deep as well as post up and rebound.”
Manchester, England native Haris Charalambous, a 6-9 big man who is looking at Davidson, Toledo and Marist, will likely start in the middle for Hun, which finished 14-10 last season.
Tim Pounds is a 6-4 swingman from Dudley, N.C., who is receiving some interest from Ivy League and Patriot League schools. The final starting spot is wide open, but could go to 6-7 junior forward Leo Nolan (Summit, N.J.).
Junior swingman Charlie Fritsch (6-4) hails from Durham, N.C., and should see plenty of minutes off the bench while 6-3 senior guard Jack Martin (Princeton, N.J.) will see time as the backup point guard.
Other players coming off the bench include seniors Matt Stillitano (5-10), Junior Jabbey (5-10), Kyle Atkinson (6-4), seniors Conor Godfrey (6-3) and Raymond Gregory (6-5) and juniors Kevin Michel (6-2 ½), Jonathan Lloyd (6-0) and Steve Garrison (5-11).
``One of our biggest strengths is our versatility,” Stone added. “We have a lot of guys who can do a lot of different things, which will allow us to be able to put a lot of different lineups on the floor. It’s just a matter of making sure everyone mixes and jells well. That’s a yearly concern for us."
